Repair work on church tower

You may have noticed some 'strange' men 'hanging' around the church lately. Don't be alarmed they are from a company who we have hired to make repairs to the church tower. The men have been abseiling from the very top of the tower to repair the slats on the bell tower and prevent further damage caused by pigeons roosting on the ledges and in the tower itself. They have also removed the stone cross which sat on the top of the roof as it was in serious danger of falling down.

I could just see the stone cross on the top of the church from our kitchen window and am missing it now (amazingly), I do hope one could be refitted....?
