Guild Coffee Morning
The Guild are holding a Coffee Morning on Saturday 16th March in the Church hall. As usual there will be marvellous home baking, great coffee (and tea) and friendly conversation. Tickets can be bought at the door and cost only £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for children. So please come along and support this very worthy event.
Charlie Green
Well known local man, Charlie Green OBE, arguably Scotland’s most decorated amateur golfer, has passed away after losing his battle with cancer.
He was 80.
One of the legendary figures in Scottish golf, Green won the Silver Medal for finishing as the leading amateur behind Arnold Palmer in the 1962 Open Championship at Royal Troon. He also played in five Walker Cups – 1963, 1969, 1971, 1973 and 1975 – and captained Great Britain & Ireland on two other occasions in the biennial contest.
Awarded the OBE in 1983 for his services to golf, Green continued to enjoy a remarkable success rate after turning 50. Between 1988 and 1996, he won the Seniors Open Amateur Championship six times and was runner-up on three occasions. His record in the Scottish Seniors Championship was equally impressive, comprising of six victories in seven years from 1988.
His funeral will take place in Cardross Parish Church next Monday (4th Feb) at 11.15am.
Christmas Services
This coming Sunday, 23rd December, the service is at 11am and is a family service featuring the Nativity Play 'Michael Mouse' which will be performed by the members of the Sunday School. The service will be followed by Carol Singing, coffee / mulled wine and mince pies for the congregation in the church halls. There will be a collection for the Glasgow City Mission and you are invited to give generously to those in need.
Following the great success of the earlier service last year we will be holding a Family Service at 6pm on Christmas Eve. All families are welcome and we would encourage you to invite your friends along to join us as we celebrate the coming of Christmas and all the joy that it brings.
The services over the Christmas and New Year period then are:
Sunday 23rd - 11am Family Service with Nativity.
Monday 24th - 6pm Christmas Eve Family Service.
Tuesday 25th - 10.30am Christmas Day family gathering and short service.
Sunday 30th - 11am A Family Service of Thanksgiving at the end of the year.

Summer Services are underway - come and join us!
Our series of Summer services has begun and with the forthcoming Olympic Games in mind the next 7 Sunday's will have distinctly sporting theme with fun and games featuring in addition to our worship. Children of all ages are encouraged to come along with their families and join in the fun and activities. Free t-shirts will be given out to all who take part and each week we will be adding their name a part of the Olympic rings to the top - Team Cardross will never have looked so good! Week One will see us up open our services and we will have one of the real Olympic torches, that took part in the torch relay, along for everyone to see and have their picture taken with. So come along and tell your friends that Cardross Church is the place to be this summer.


Church Manse up for sale
As a result of the Ministerial linkage of Cardross Parish Church and Helensburgh: Park Church, it was agreed that both congregations should sell their present Manses and jointly buy a new Manse to serve the new linked Parishes. The Cardross Manse is now up for sale and the particulars can be views here on the Church of Scotland website: The Manse, Main Road, Cardross.
